Growing In Unity Day 1–Easter Card

patti-day-1

(What a time we are having!  The past month our puppy had surgery and we almost lost him.  I went to visit a friend in Florida for a week.  Then this past weekend I took the 2 days of certification classes from Copic.  Now we are having a tornado watch and I am having trouble keeping the internet going.  I am posting my card and hoping that things go off without a hitch.)

I am so excited to be the Growing In Unity Gal this week.  I did this last year and had so much fun.  I’m excited to be doing it again this year.  I started off the week with a couple of stamps that I got from the Kit of the Month from February 2014.  It is being offered today for $26 .  I especially love this kit.  While I was in Florida I took classes at Sparkle N Sprinkle so I wanted to use some of the things that I had bought and learned from there.  I heat embossed my egg as well as my sentiment.  Then I used the brushable glue to color the flowers.  Today is the last day for Unity’s Big Spring Garage Sale.  Hurry so that you can take advantage of huge savings.  Also, if you come and comment on my blog every day this week then you are entered in a drawing to get 2 Unity Itty Bitty Stamps!  That’s a great deal too!  I hope that you will join me each day this week as we discover the wonderful world of Unity!

Until tomorrow…Ciao…

Birthday Wishes for John

I bought this stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle when I went to visit my friend, Kristy, in Florida for a week of fun.  We went to Sparkle N Sprinkle to take a couple of classes.  This is stamp set 493–Silhouettes.  Tomorrow is my brother’s birthday so I used black embossing powder for this image.  Then I took Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pens and used them as my watercolors to make the background.  I love the look that I got.  I hope you enjoy this little card.  I will be posting a card every day this coming week because I am going to be the GIU girl for the week.  You will have a chance to win 2 Itty Bittys from Unity if you comment on each of my cards next week so be sure to come back.

Until we meet again…Ciao…

Friends With Flair Friday!

Yay!  It’s another Friends With Flair Friday at Unity and that means fun, fun, fun!  Well, it is triple fun today.  It has been a hard week for us so I have three cards to share.  Here is the challenge that is going on at Unity:

UnitysNewChallenge3

And here are my cards to share with you:

WithHeartfeltSympathy--Unity

My son’s girlfriend’s grandfather passed away and they had the funeral Tuesday.  There is a theme for Tuesday here.  Anyway, I wanted to make her a nice Sympathy card.  I used the With Heartfelt Sympathy stamp (from bunches of love).

MoreBlessedToGive--Unity

MoreBlessedToGiveWithSympathy--Unity

Tuesday as my son and his girlfriend were headed to her grandfather’s funeral in another town he looked back in the back of his car, (he was taking his dogs with him), and his first dog as an adult had passed away in the car.  This was a very sad thing as Corby wasn’t sick in any shape, form, or fashion and had been my son’s buddy for at least the past 13 or 14 years.  You know that it is bound to happen but you are never ready.  So again, it was time to break out the stamps and make a different kind of Sympathy card.   This one I took the dog from Phyllis Harris’ “More Blessed to Give” and embossed him in black embossing powder.  On the inside I used a couple of stamps from “With Sympathy” which to me is a must have in anybody’s stamp collection!  It is SO versatile!!!  It is on sale now too if you don’t have it!

Thank You (at the least)--Unity

Yesterday was my birthday.  It was truly an awful day.  My husband gave our Shih Poo a ham bone not thinking anything about it.  It was a large one.  Well that was Tuesday.  He was up all night regurgitating it.  He was still sick Wednesday morning.  So my husband took him to the veterinarian.  He was very, very ill.  She did surgery on him yesterday.  Anyway, he is recuperating now and hopefully will be home Monday.  It will be a long recuperation and our dogs will no longer get ANY bones.

But let’s talk about the card.  I used  “Thank You” (at the least) to make my sister and my brother-in-law a thank you card for the lovely birthday gift that they gave me.  It was very nice and I was very grateful.

I hope that you are inspired to get your stamps out and join us at Friends With Flair Friday at Unity!  You still have time to play along.  Be sure and check out what the rest of the ladies have made for you!  Until we meet again…Ciao.

CDAC Progressive Challenge with Angelic – SI

Angelic2--Shelly'sImages

Angelic3--Shelly'sImages

As I said in a previous post, this image came from Shelly’s Images and currently is being offered as a freebie as long as you make a commitment to play in the progressive freebie challenge at CDAC.  I loved the image so much I did it three times.  I could imagine it three different ways.  I saw it as black, white, with a pop of red; then more of a Victorian style; and then a sepia type.  To see the black and white with a pop of red go here.  I did not notice when I was doing the color on my Victorian one that the card behind the maroon embossed folder was not showing up as the cream that it really is.  I was focusing on the bling that is two different colors of pink.  One is darker than the other.  When I saw that I had accomplished that I stopped.  That is my goof.  We are all human and I definitely made that mistake.  The sepia color was much more difficult to pull off and I need more work on that.  When you do sepia, as I found out, there must be a trick to it because doing all sepia if you are coloring presents problems in that you want people to be able to see the lines in your image.  Another tip I can give you is that burlap will burn, lol, if you get the embossing heat gun too close or hold it too long by the burlap.  Oops!  Learn from my mistakes.  🙂  I truly love this image.  I hope that you will join in over at CDAC.  (This link is to the main page.)  There is SO much going on over there now.  You will never get bored, I guarantee you.  As I leave you, until we meet again be crafty, be inspired, and be Blessed…Ciao…

Today starts Challenge #52 at The Stamping Boutique

Challenge #52 at The Stamping Boutique started today and goes until Monday, October 1.  It is going to be one of those challenges that everyone normally likes–embossing!  You have your choice of wet or dry embossing!!!  I saw a technique of wet embossing to make your paper look like bathroom tile so I chose the wet embossing.  I really had fun with it.  I chose one of the best images to play with as well:  Princess Jennifer Latte!  This time I chose Princess Jennifer Latte Bubble Bath which can be found by clicking the link.  My sentiment came from Create with TLC.  It goes perfect with this picture I think.  I added a few Liquid Pearls Petal Pink, some Cotton Candy Stickles, some Kaiser Pearls and voila!  Here is my list of Copics:

12 – Silver atyouSpica

E-00, 01, 04, 21, 23, 25, 33, 35, 37, 43, 55, 81, 95

R-11

RV-10, 13, 14

V-0000

You have a week to enter this challenge at The Stamping Boutique.  I hope that I have inspired you.  But I also hope that you will check out the link because there are 14 other very talented artists that have left some inspiration there for you as well.  That should get you good & inspired!  Have a great crafty day!  Until we meet again…Ciao…
