Spotlight Technique

A couple of days ago I told you about the new digital stamp releases at Fresh Brewed Designs and I showed you a couple of cards that I had made with the Bear and the Hedgehog.  Heather asked us to try a new, to me at least, technique.  It is called the “Spotlight Technique”.  I find it quite fun.  The point is to have 2 of the digital designs and to color part of one of them.  Then you cut the part out that you want to spotlight.  You will put that part over a black and white image that is the same and line it up.  I really enjoyed learning to do this technique.  I hope that you will be inspired by my examples and that you will try it if you haven’t tried it before or that you will try it again if it has been a while since you have done the “spotlight technique”.  Here are my examples.  Enjoy!

See how you can even highlight more than one spot?  The sentiment on the hedgehog says, “Let’s Get Together For A Playdate”.  It is a Woodland type of font and it is difficult to read it on here.  Please be certain to stop by Fresh Brewed Designs to see what the rest of the DT has come up with.

The Stamping Boutique is Sponsoring Creative Craft Challenges 2

This is Dawn from The Stamping Boutique.  The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring Creative Craft Challenges 2 this week for their challenge “Fun With Fantasy”.  They are looking for anything mermaid/fairy related or that would be deemed as “fantasy”.  I chose this beautiful image of Dawn because as long as I can remember I have really loved mermaids.  I think I have a pretty good collection of mermaid stamps actually.  I had this AC Specialty Pearl paper already that was perfect for making a clam shell.  I used Judi*Kins Diamond Glaze to make the bubbles on the paper.  I left the sentiment off for now because there are so many sentiments that could go on there.  You could use, “Best Fishes for a Happy Birthday”,  “I hope things are going Swimmingly”, “Happy Birthday”, “Hi, How are you?”, or any number of things.  I made 2 of them.  I started doing that a few months back because I am trying to work on a personal goal of being able to start sending cards in to Operation Write Home.  I know that it is a worthy cause.  I am married to a disabled Veteran myself so I know what they go through.

If anyone is interested in the clamshell stencil you can leave your e-mail and I will be happy to e-mail it to you.  I used my Martha Stewart Scor-Pal to make the lines on the clamshell.    Here is my list of copics:

Don’t forget that this week at The Stamping Boutique our challenge is Pink, Pink, Pink.  I have already seen some awesome pink cards.  I hope you feel inspired to go create something fantastically beatiful and creative.  Be sure to check out Creative Craft Challenge 2 for more inspiration as well as The Stamping Boutique.  We want to see your pink!  And if anyone knows how to change the color of the font on wordpress would you please let me know?  I would love to have pink all month long!  Until we meet again…Ciao Baby!  :)

Today starts Challenge #52 at The Stamping Boutique

Challenge #52 at The Stamping Boutique started today and goes until Monday, October 1.  It is going to be one of those challenges that everyone normally likes–embossing!  You have your choice of wet or dry embossing!!!  I saw a technique of wet embossing to make your paper look like bathroom tile so I chose the wet embossing.  I really had fun with it.  I chose one of the best images to play with as well:  Princess Jennifer Latte!  This time I chose Princess Jennifer Latte Bubble Bath which can be found by clicking the link.  My sentiment came from Create with TLC.  It goes perfect with this picture I think.  I added a few Liquid Pearls Petal Pink, some Cotton Candy Stickles, some Kaiser Pearls and voila!  Here is my list of Copics:

12 – Silver atyouSpica

E-00, 01, 04, 21, 23, 25, 33, 35, 37, 43, 55, 81, 95

You have a week to enter this challenge at The Stamping Boutique.  I hope that I have inspired you.  But I also hope that you will check out the link because there are 14 other very talented artists that have left some inspiration there for you as well.  That should get you good & inspired!  Have a great crafty day!  Until we meet again…Ciao…

Fresh Brewed Designs September Facebook Challenge

I am entering Happy Fall Girl as a card for Fresh Brewed Designs September Facebook Challenge.  The challenge is to DO something extra.  What does it mean to do something extra?  They want an extra fold, for you to decorate the inside of your card, to do a 3D project, fussy cut or something extra other than extra embellies.  For the first entry, which is my first picture, I made it a pumpkin shaped card and then I paper pieced the stem.  My second entry I made a favor box and put the Happy Fall Girl digi on that.  My husband loves it.  He says that it will be perfect to put around the Thanksgiving table.  I can see it as name tags or to hold nuts perhaps.  The Blog Hop is this weekend–the 15th through the 17th.  There is going to be a lot of fun and prizes.  I hope that you will join in with Fresh Brewed Designs on Facebook as they set off to show you some of their new rubber stamp releases and just share a good time with you.

I hope you have found some inspiration here today.  Please come back and visit me often.  I love it when you leave me feedback.  I can’t wait until we have the chance to meet again…Ciao…

Completed Marker Holder

I have been using the marker holder but my husband went back & painted the PVC pipe black & put some screws with tiny bolts on the front & back of the pipes to keep them from moving. I can still turn them to the opening on top & take them out. I still had more markers so he is making me another one.  I am loving this.  It keeps them organized.  I did them by color & when I have the other one finished I will probably do it more by type of pen.  I still have lots more copics I would love to have.  And, I don’t have any flexmarkers yet.  hehe  Thanks for taking the time to look.  Until we meet again…

Ciao…

Sharing Time

I’ve been trying to help my parents since their wreck.  The guy that hit them is 18 & has a family.  He didn’t have a driver’s license or insurance.  My parent’s car is totaled besides my Mom’s five broken ribs.  She hasn’t been able to care for herself & Dad has needed to get out of the house.  They live 40 miles away.  We have been trying to take food or go help take care of her.  On top of that I haven’t felt well.  These blooming allergies & my other illness don’t help matters.  I have a big project that was due on the 16th.  It is awesome but I haven’t felt well enough or been home enough to get it completed.  Anyway, we had to replace the sink in our kitchen & the faucet b/c the water bill went up 400% b/c of the drought we are having in Texas.  We have had a leak in the faucet since we bought the house so it was past time.  I thought I would share my new pen holder, top picture, & Stickles holder, bottom picture, with you.  That isn’t what they look like?  Well, let me explain.  We found these 2 pieces at Target yesterday.  I asked my husband if he could take PVC pipe & put it in the wine rack.  He said he could.  We found the PVC pipe & we even found little end caps that fit on the end of the pipe so the pens won’t go all the way through.  He is going to cut it & put it in the wine rack.  I plan to take all of my different pens & sort them by color, all the blues in one, blacks in one, reds in one–you get the picture.  There are 10 slots.  I went on a site:   & ordered three 12″ diameter wooden circles.  They are 3/4″ thick.  My husband is going to drill holes into each of them so I can store my Stickles, Adirondack Alcohol Inks, (& if there is anything else that I have or that fits if there is any room left over), upside down.  I will share a picture when they are done but I haven’t posted in so long I wanted to share something with you.  So these are my projects for the hubster & then I will get busy filling them.  Oh, I picked up some sugar jars too so I can fill them with the Baker’s twine.  When I finally get my scraproom finished there will be pictures to share.  I do have before pictures as well.  :)  Enjoy the rest of your day or evening wherever you are.

Ciao~

My son & granddaughter

I’ve been wanting to put a picture of my granddaughter on here for a long time.  I have no problem showing off my son as well.  :)  They went to a Maverick’s game last night.  Aubrey loves sports & watches them with her Dad.  She can actually tell you who the players are.  We are having our 10th grandchild in July.  It is a strange thing.  This son, Patrick, is my 1st son but then I remarried & although that marriage ended up in a divorce as well, I have 2 (adopted) children & 5 grandchildren from that relationship.  I didn’t formally adopt them but we still have a strong relationship & they call me Mom & the children call me Gramma & my husband Grampa.  Well, as promised, the picture of my beautiful son & the first granddaughter I had.  :)
